King Rama V - Series 2 Definitive Stamps - 1 Att on 12 Atts
Two basic settings, termed "general settings", were used to produced. When a change was needed to print a different denomination the "Atts" portion of the surcharge, both English and Thai, remained the same and only the numeral fonts were altered:
General setting A The space between the English and Thai surcharges is 8 mm. General setting B The space between the English and Thai surcharges is 8.5 to 9mm. Issue of June 4th, 1898: Stamps No. 61 and No.62 1887 Issue 12 atts purple and carmine surcharged "1 Att" and "1 Atts" in English and Thai by the Rachathiptai Printing Press, Bangkok. Two specific settings were used, the first from general setting A, the other two from general setting B.
Issue of February 14th, 1899: Stamps No. 63 and No.64 12 atts purple and carmine surcharged "1 Att" in English and Thai by Vacharin Printing, Bangkok. The Thai portion of the surcharge is identical throughout the sheet while the English portion exists in two subtypes varying from the left to right hand portions of the sheet. The stamp had two different designs:

12 atts purple and carmine surcharged "1 Att" in English and Thai by Rachathiptai Printing Press, Bangkok. Setting C (from General Setting B): English portion of surcharge is "1 Att" and 10 mm in length. General setting B issued October 3, 1899 and printed in 120,000 copies (No.68). |
