In April 1907, a series of high-priced stamps were introduced as the Postal Department opened the 8th Post Office in China to receive postage deposits it. Opened on April 1, 1907, it appears that the Chinese delivered a large number of postage stamps. Some packages contain up to 750 letters, so high-priced stamps were needed, but at the time, the highest price stamps were only 1 TICAL (1 baht). Therefore, the Ministry of Public Works asked the King to use the royal stamps which are used as court fees and land costs of 10, 20 and 40 baht, to be overprinted as SIAM POSTAGE 10, 20 and 40 TICALS until the high price stamps were printed.
The royal ceremony "Rajmangkhalaphisek was held from 11th to 18th November 1908. On the occasion of the 41st year of the reign of His Majesty King Chulalongkorn King Rama V reigned for 41 years, which was a reign longer than all other Thai monarchs. These stamps were sold to the public as a souvenir. The high-priced printing on horse-shaped stamps were issued because at that time there was still a demand for high value stamps for sending money to China at the time.
