King Rama V - Series 2 Definitive Stamps - 4 Atts on 12 Atts
Issue of January 1897 - Stamps No.53, No.54 and No.55
The 12 atts purple and carmine stamp was overprinted with “4 Atts” in English and Thai. There were two types of stamps printed: Stamp No.54; Type 1: Large roman surcharge, vertical space 11mm. 120,000 printed by the Siam Mercantile Printing, Bangkok. Stamps No.55/56; Type 2: Small roman surcharge, vertical space 8.5 mm. 180,000 printed by Siam Vacarin Printing, Bangkok across two subtypes:
Issue of February 22nd, 1898: Stamps No. 59 and No.60
1887 Issue 12 atts purple and carmine surcharged "4 Atts" in English and Thai by the Rajatiptai Printing Press, Bangkok in sheets of 120 stamps. Two specific settings were used, one from each general setting. Setting A: General setting A (vertical space between is 8 mm). Issued February 22, 1898. 120,000 surcharged. (No.59)
