King Rama V - Series 5 Definitive Stamps - Wat Jang Issue
Set of 15 stamps. Printed by Giesecke and Devrient, Leipzig. Issued December 1905, April 1st, 1908 & 1909. Unwatermarked. Comb perforated 14. 23 x 30 mm.
Profile portrait of King Chulalongkorn in a circle with view of the "temple of dawn" called the Wet Jang below.
The first issue was in December 1905 with stamps No.98-No.112.
During December 9 - 16, 1907, temporary items were used, as in December 1907 there was a shortage of 1 att priced stamps. The Bangkok Postmasters were allowed to write or print on paper or use a rubber stamp on the envelope in Thai or in English. They indicated that the delivery fee had been paid and signed and stamped with the daily stamp as evidence. There is a thematic "no stamp because one stamp does not have one stamp" or "one att stamps run short-postage paid," followed by a stamp and a signature instead of using any stamps. This method only existed from December 9th to 16th because the next generation of revised stamps had been removed.
The 1 att and 8 atts (stamps No.107 to No.112) were printed again on April 1st, 1908 from new plates. The designs were the same as the initial as permanent issue of 1905, but there was a change in colours for the 2 atts, 3 atts, and 4 atts. New denominations were also added of 9 atts and 18 atts. Postage stamps number 107 and 110 exists in both a light color and dark color.
In 1909, second printings were made of the 2 atts and 4 atts values. The 2 atts second printing is known only with an additional surcharge.

The "1 Att" value has been found in olive brown, the "2 Atts" value in blue and also in blue and green, and the "3 Atts" value in red and slate. Experts believe that all these are colour changelings, due to chemical or atmospheric action.
