Stamps No.57, No.58 and No.70 1887 Issue 12 atts purple and carmine surcharged "3 Atts" in English and Thai by the Rachatiptai Printing Press, Bangkok. Three specific settings were used, the first two from general setting A, the last from general setting B. Setting A: English surcharge 13.5 mm in length. General setting A. Roman "s" two positions. Issued February 22nd, 1898. 30,000 stamps surcharged. (No.57) Setting B: English surcharge 12 mm in length. General setting A. Roman "s" two positions. Issued June 8, 1899. 30,000 stamps surcharged. (No.58) Setting C: English surcharge 11.5 mm in length. General setting B. Roman "s" 118 positions. Issued October 3, 1899. 60,000 stamps surcharged. Very few sheets issued. (No.70) Subtypes: Subtype 1: Thai numeral is on a level with other characters. Subtype 2: Thai numeral is below the level of the other characters. |
