King Rama V - Series 2 Definitive Stamps - 2 Atts on 64 Atts
Issue of July 12th, 1894
Stamps No.43 to No.48 The 64 Atts purple and brown was surcharged “2 Atts” in English and Thai by the Vatcharindr Printing Press, Bangkok. The overprint was applied in a single go using metal lettering on sheets of 120 stamps. Two settings were used; Setting A having six different types of English numerals and Setting B with a single type identical to one of those used in setting A. The vertical space between either depends on the rows and is either 10 mm or 8.5 mm. To identify the print settings, please consult the table. Note that No. 44 was only printed in 500 examples, so the stamp is rare and expensive. Issue of October 12th and December 29th, 1894. Stamps No.51 and No.52 The 64 Atts purple and brown was surcharged “2 Atts” in English and Thai by the Siam Mercantile Printing Press, Bangkok. These overprints were set up in panes of 60, five horizontal rows of twelve. There were two types of surcharges:
Issue of February 14th, 1899 Stamps No.65 and No.66 1887 Issue 64 atts purple and brown surcharged "2 Atts" in English and Thai by the Vacharin Printing Press, Bangkok. The Thai portion of the surcharge is identical throughout the sheet while the English portion exists in two subtypes varying from the left to righthand portions of the sheet. The total number surcharged was 240,000 in 7 days. Subtypes as follows:
